I haven't posted in a while.

I am cleaning the apartment for Patti to come home. I just saw her yesterday, but I am very excited to see her again. I am ready for a change in my life... Patti has been ready for much longer. Somehow the reality of Patti's life her in Portland came to light while she was gone. I felt lonely and as crappy... she must of felt worse.

I am suppose to be cleaning, but I am reeling at the fact of how lucky I am that Patti is still with me. I am reeling at how oblivious I was. I am reeling at how much I am looking forward to change... building my life around Patti instead of around a stupid job. Reeling at the fact of how stupid I am. Lastly, reeling at the fact that all you so called "friends" probably knew how stupid I was and didn't say anything. Please speak up next time, jerks. I almost died.

Thanks,
Nick

long strom thurman

i have this week off, so i am able to watch cnn and catch up on current events. I watched part of strom thurmans' funeral today. I didn't realize how impressive his life has been:
"he was born when teddy roosevelt was president, in the 1950's he nearly beat Harry S. Truman in a bid for presidency. In 2000 he celebrated his 100's birthday in the whitehouse with President George W. Bush"
That's pretty much all Dick Cheaney said in his Eulogy today for strom thurman. I thought it was brilliant. I know that Omission has long gone hand in hand with our government. but i think it has become slightly worse lately. this has all probably been said before but I don't think much can be done to stop this reasoning by omission shit. first of all, our attention spans are become worse and worse. we are fine with a 30 second summary of an event or a 30 second reason why we should bomb the shit out of a country. a 30 second ad is enough for most of us as consumers to purchase a product. why shouldn't it be enough for us to justify supporting the platform of some political candidate?

the same thing happens on both sides of political issues. the people opposing our bush's regimes policy's are trying to gain support with their own set of 30-second reasons, full of omissions. the arguments on both sides are full of holes--missing truths.

but i honestly don't know if our nation can change, or should change. I don't know if we have time whether in global or local policies, or in technology, or in our day to day life to find out the whole story, digest it, then attempt an approach to the issue. it is clear in some matters. we go to a doctor because we have decided not to take the time to learn medicine, and we want a 30 second reason why or why-not we should have our tonsil removed. we elect officials to office because we trust that these people will find out the whole story, digest it and choose the best solution for us. but in most cases we choose our offiicials based on a 30 second ad in which they try to tell us what they want to hear. it's crazy how much of our modern nation has been created based on quick decisions.

my thoughts right now are that maybe it doesn't really matter how quick we make decisions. all they are is a series of chemical reactions. and no matter how quickly the reactions take place, they will always lead us to the position of lowest potential energy. we are just getting there a lot faster. METEOR!!! WAKE UP PATTI!!
